Country in the Rockies gets ready to roll

Country music duo Montgomery Gentry is set to heat up the stage during this winter's cool Country in the Rockies event, Jan. 23-27, 2008, in Steamboat Springs, Colo.

The annual T.J. Martell Foundation fund-raiser features some of country music's best artists performing and cavorting on Rocky Mountain ski slopes.

After a day of barreling down the snow-packed slopes, participants will spend their nights at the Steamboat Grand Resort Hotel listening to artists like Darryl Worley and female country group Lucy Angel, plus some of BMI's best songwriters. During Celebrity Bartending Night, stars will sing to guests while auctioning off autographed merchandise.

Proceeds from Country in the Rockies benefit research at Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center. The event was founded by Frances Williams Preston, former president and CEO of BMI and current president of the T.J. Martell Foundation board of directors. Much of the work of the cancer center is conducted in the Frances Williams Preston Research Building.
