Fall Faculty Meeting set for Oct. 17

The fall meeting for combined faculties of the Schools of Medicine and Nursing will be held at 4 p.m. Monday, Oct. 17, in 208 Light Hall with a reception to follow in the North Lobby.

Vice Chancellor for Health Affairs Harry Jacobson, M.D., will deliver his yearly progress report to faculty, detailing achievements in clinical areas and at the schools during fiscal year 2005, which ended June 30.

Last year's Fall meeting highlighted Vanderbilt University Medical Center's clinical and research growth, with substantial increases in funding for research and patient care income.

At this year's meeting, Jacobson is anticipated to focus on how elevate, the wide-ranging VUMC improvement effort launched last fall, has affected the schools during fiscal year 2005.

Elevate is a multi-year program geared toward improving the patient experience at VUMC's hospitals and clinics and also the work-related satisfaction of staff and faculty.

Jacobson is scheduled to deliver his all-encompassing State of the Medical Center address in February.
