FluMist available to health care workers on Monday

On Monday, Nov. 8, in accordance with VUMC's Targeted Flu Vaccine Plan, staff from the Occupational Health Clinic will begin administration of FluMist, the nasal spray flu vaccine, to Vanderbilt's eligible inpatient health care workers who wish to receive the vaccine.

Occupational Health Clinic staff will be conducting on-site vaccinations. FluMist will also be available at the Occupational Health Clinic, located in Suite 640 of the Medical Arts Building, Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m.

Beginning Monday, Nov. 15, all remaining VUMC health care workers eligible to receive FluMist will be able to receive the vaccine through an on-site visit from Occupational Health or at the Occupational Health Clinic.

Staff must present an ID badge to obtain FluMist. Only health care workers with patient contact are eligible.

The Targeted Flu Vaccine Plan is a tiered plan in accordance with CDC guidelines that first directs available flu vaccine to all eligible inpatient health care workers who care for high-risk patients.

The plan then follows assessed patient risk levels, determined by the Occupational Health Clinic, Department of Emergency Preparedness, and the departments of Infectious Diseases and Preventive Medicine, to administer all remaining FluMist to other health care workers.
