Health care publication lauds VUMC’s cardiology program

Becker's Hospital Review has named Vanderbilt University Medical Center to its list of "65 Hospitals with Great Cardiology Programs," which recognizes some of the top hospitals for heart care in the United States.

The Becker's Hospital Review editorial team researched and analyzed a large number of organizations and their contributions to the field of cardiology.

Resources from prominent and reputable health care sources were used to finalize the list, including Thomson Reuters, the American Nurses Credentialing Center, American Stroke Association, the American Heart Association, U.S. News & World Report and HealthGrades.

The 65 organizations are noted for groundbreaking research, high-quality care and state-of-the-art treatments for heart disease. The hospitals have also extended their care beyond facility walls to educate their local communities about heart health, with a focus on preventive care.

“We are honored to be named to this list of prestigious organizations that join us in our efforts to prevent and treat the No. 1 killer of men and women in this country,” said Keith Churchwell, M.D., executive director and chief medical officer of Vanderbilt Heart.

“Having Becker’s Hospital Review recognize us as a leader in the field of cardiology is yet another indication that the work we do here is important and is garnering national attention.”

Becker's Hospital Review is a bimonthly publication offering up-to-date business and legal news and analysis relating to hospitals and health systems.
