“Hey Florence!” to debut

“Hey Florence!” — a musical starring active-duty Vanderbilt University Medical Center nurses — premieres next week. The one-hour show is a funny and poignant look at the day-to-day life of nurses.

“This is a chance for the nurses to tell their stories,” said Donna Glassford, director of Cultural Enrichment, who is producing the show in collaboration with the Nurse Wellness Committee. “It's a look at contemporary nursing, and it will touch everyone emotionally. You will laugh and cry.”

Australian playwright Craig Christie is directing.

The musical, held in Langford Auditorium, will run Sept. 10-12 at 7 p.m., with an additional 2 p.m. matinee on Sept. 12.

Nurses and nursing students from any health care institution will receive a free ticket upon showing their ID badge. Other adult tickets are $10, and $5 for children 18 and under. Tickets can be purchased at Vanderbilt Valet, the Office of Cultural Enrichment in 1002 Oxford House, or at the door.
