According to the May 1 announcement from C. Wright Pinson, M.D., M.B.A., associate vice chancellor for Clinical Affairs and chief medical officer, Hood will provide medical oversight to all of the clinics at the new facility, an expansion of his existing role as medical director of Vanderbilt Heart at One Hundred Oaks.

“With One Hundred Oaks, Vanderbilt is reaching out with a major campus extension, giving the community new access to university-based specialty and primary care,” Hood said.
“This new location is very convenient, especially for patients who come from greater distances and who may not be accustomed to urban traffic.

“Beyond improved patient access, the other major theme at One Hundred Oaks is prevention and wellness — not just in terms of expanded preventive services at Vanderbilt Heart OHO, but also at the Women's Health Center, the Breast Center, the Center for Surgical Weight Loss and at a new and expanded Vanderbilt Dayani Center.”

Included in the “Best Doctors in America” list since 2003, Hood has been medical director of the Cardiology Service at VMC since 2006.

A 1980 graduate of Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans, Hood holds a bachelor of arts degree from the University of South Florida and a bachelor of science degree from Tulane.

He served his internship, residency and cardiology fellowship at Emory University Affiliated Hospitals in Atlanta.
