Horn set to explore lung cancer therapies
Leora Horn, M.D., has joined Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center as an assistant professor in Hematology/Oncology, specializing in lung cancer.
The native of Johannesburg, South Africa, spent 20 years in Canada, where she earned an Honours Bachelor of Science with High Distinction and a Master of Science in Pharmacology, and a Doctor of Medicine with Honours from the University of Toronto, where she also completed her internal medicine residency and medical oncology subspecialty training.

Horn came to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in 2008 as a Thoracic Oncology Fellow supported by the Canadian Association of Medical Oncology and was offered a faculty position in 2009.
“I am excited to join such a prestigious group of lung cancer researchers at Vanderbilt-Ingram,” said Horn. “Vanderbilt's commitment to personalized medicine and the SPORE grant program, supported by the National Cancer Institute, provides unique opportunities for translational research and improvements in patient care.”
Horn is conducting clinical trials in experimental therapeutics for lung cancer. She has published in several peer-reviewed journals and has contributed several book chapters and reviews on lung cancer.
She also is conducting research on medical education as she completes a master's degree in health professional education.
“I am excited to be working with experts in the field of medical education and serving as an assistant director of Web-based learning for the educator development program,” said Horn.
