With Dr. Joseph C. Ross, Associate Vice Chancellor for Health Affairs, set to retire at the end of the year, several of his responsibilities are being shifted to Norman B. Urmy, executive director of Vanderbilt University Hospital.

In addition to his oversight role of the hospital, Urmy will also be responsible for the following:

€ Space and Facilities Management

€ Medical Center Plant Operations

€ Medical Center Purchasing

€ Medical Center Contracts Office

€ Medical Center Human Resources

€ Medical Center Auxiliary

€ Corporate Health Services

€ Regional Hospital Networking.

Urmy will also oversee the Certificate of Need application process for VUMC and will serve as the medical center liaison with the Medical Center Advisory Council.

Through membership on their boards, Urmy will act for VUMC in the operation and governance of the Psychiatric Hospital at Vanderbilt, the Vanderbilt-Stallworth Rehabilitation Hospital, the Cumberland Pediatric Foundation and the Middle Tennessee Health Care Group.

"I worked with Dr. Robinson (former Vice Chancellor for Health Affairs) in the recruitment of Norm Urmy to Vanderbilt," Ross said. "I was very impressed with his accomplishments before he came here, and since we have had a close working relationship for these past 15 years, I know that he is a talented administrator and has contributed greatly to the growth and development at VUMC during this time.

"I am confident that he will handle his new assignments with the expertise that he has always shown in his role here."
