Keck named to new VUSN leadership role
Becky Keck, M.S.N., R.N., has been named to the newly created role of senior associate dean for Administration and Operations, and chief administrative officer at Vanderbilt University School of Nursing.
“Becky is a talented administrator, teacher and nurse who brings with her a long track record of successes,” said Colleen Conway-Welch, Ph.D., dean of VUSN. “Her insight as both a nurse and an administrator add value to everything we do at the school. She is uniquely suited to make important contributions to our work here.”

Keck has served in many administrative capacities throughout her 14-year career at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. She initially served as an assistant hospital director, Nursing Finance and Operations.
During her nine years in this role, she worked collaboratively on key strategic initiatives such as the Magnet Recognition program, Vanderbilt Valet Services and the Vanderbilt Professional Nurse Practice Program.
In 2007, Keck joined the School of Nursing as clinical director for Geriatric Services. In this role, she served as a faculty member for the Health Systems Management specialty in the Masters in Nursing program, as well as clinical director for Geriatric Services for University Community Health Services. In this capacity, she provided leadership, strategic planning and development and implementation of geriatric services.
“I quickly realized Becky was an exceptional leader with a special skill set,” Conway-Welch said. “In just two years at the school she has made significant contributions and become an indispensable part of our leadership team. I am pleased to have her as a part of a very talented group of senior associate deans at VUSN.”
Keck's initial nursing career started in medical/surgical nursing and surgical intensive care. She worked in a community-based hospital in Lexington, Ky., as director of Nursing, Medical/Surgical Services, and later moved to the University of Kentucky Medical Center as divisional director of Nursing Support Services.
Keck is a native of Bowling Green, Ky., with strong ties to Western Kentucky University, where she earned her Associate and Bachelor Degrees in Nursing. She later moved to Lexington, where she completed her Masters in Nursing with a concentration in nursing administration from the University of Kentucky.
