“Betsy is a pioneer in health care informatics and truly like no other,” said Colleen Conway-Welch, Ph.D., dean of VUSN. “She has the holistic perspective of an experienced nurse and educator combined with incredible technological expertise.

“The result is someone who asks the tough questions, seeks the best answers and never stops trying to make things better.”

In her position as VUSN's senior associate dean for Informatics, Weiner has helped usher in a popular blended-distance learning curriculum, netted several grants, including one recently for work in the Second Life format, and become a sought-after expert in the areas of informatics and emergency preparedness.

Weiner was elected by her peers for membership in the American College of Medical Informatics and joins a group of 300 members worldwide who have been invited to join since 1984.
