The ASCI inducted Tina Hartert, M.D., M.P.H., associate professor of Medicine.

The AAP inducted: James Crowe, M.D., professor of Pediatrics and Microbiology & Immunology; David Johnson, M.D., professor of Medicine and director of the Division of Hematology/Oncology; and C. Michael Stein, M.B.Ch.B., professor of Medicine and Pharmacology.

“Vanderbilt Medical Center cannot help but be proud of their elections this year to such important academic societies,” said Eric G. Neilson, M.D., Hugh Jackson Morgan Professor and chairman of the Department of Medicine. “We have a deep bench of scientific talent and it is gratifying to see it recognized through the wonderful work of these individuals.”

The ASCI, founded in 1908, has more than 2,800 physician-scientist members. Members – who must be 45 or younger at the time of election – are chosen based on their records of scholarly achievement in biomedical research.

The AAP was established in 1885 for the advancement of scientific and practical medicine. The association includes about 1,000 active members and 550 emeritus members. Members are recognized for their pursuit of medical knowledge and for their advancement through experimentation and discovery of basic and clinical science and their application to clinical medicine.
