Oncology programs named among nation’s best

Becker's Hospital Review has named Vanderbilt University Medical Center to its list of 70 Hospitals and Health Systems with Great Oncology Programs.

These hospitals are deemed to be on the cutting edge of cancer treatment, prevention and research, and the Becker's Hospital Review editorial team selected them based on clinical accolades, quality care and contributions to the field of oncology.

The oncology programs have been recognized for excellence in cancer care by reputable health care rating resources and have demonstrated continual innovation in treatments and services, patient-centered care and the achievement of clinical milestones and ground-breaking discoveries.

“We are honored to be recognized for the excellence of our oncology program,” said R. Daniel Beauchamp, M.D., J.C. Foshee Distinguished Chair in Surgery, chair of the Section of Surgical Sciences and deputy director of VICC.

“This recognition provides further validation of the compassionate care provided by our physicians and staff, the quality of our multidisciplinary disease management and the innovative cancer research conducted by scientists in the Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center.”

To develop the list of best oncology programs, the Becker's Hospital Review editorial team analyzed data from sources including U.S. News and World Report, HealthGrades, American Nurses Credentialing Center, the National Cancer Institute and the American College of Surgeons.

After examining national rankings and reviews, the editorial team performed additional research into each hospital.

Becker's Hospital Review is a bimonthly publication offering up-to-date business and legal news and analysis relating to hospitals and health systems and each issue reaches more than 18,000 readers.
