Pasta Premier ready to twirl up scholarship funds

The 11th Annual Pasta Premier will be held Saturday at the Marriott Cool Springs in Franklin.

The tasting extravaganza showcases Nashville celebrities' favorite pasta recipes while raising funds for merit and financial need-based scholarships for Vanderbilt School of Nursing students.

Chefs this year will include Vanderbilt football coach Woody Widenhofer, Nashville Predators assistant coach Paul Gardener, cyclist Trey Harwell and cheerleaders from the VU football team as well as the Nashville Kats Arena League football team.

Featured entertainers will be The Dave Humphreys Orchestra and local comedian Henry Cho.

In addition to raising money for nursing students, organizers of the event hope to increase public awareness about advance practice nursing.

The first Pasta Premier was held in April 1990 as a tribute to Laura Catherine Rankin, a VUSN student.
