Radiothon tunes in record funds for Children’s Miracle Network

The fifth annual Children's Miracle Network (CMN) Radiothon raised $175,520 last weekend for area member hospitals.

On-air personalities from radio station 107.5-FM The River broadcast the fund-raiser March 9-11 from the Performance Stage at the Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt.

The majority of the 945 pledges made during the Radiothon were to join the River Kids Club, a one-year commitment of $15 per month.

“The event was a huge success and certainly representative of the teamwork that went into it,” said Jessica King-Bernard, director of CMN for Children's Hospital. “From the CMN team here at Children's Hospital to 107.5 the River to the countless number of volunteers, we couldn't have done it without each of them,”

More than 100 families gave pre-recorded or on-air interviews during the event.

Children's Hospital is one of the 22 founding hospitals of the CMN, which was formed in 1982 and is the only national fund-raising effort that pledges that 100 percent of all locally raised money goes to local member hospitals. The event has gained momentum each year.

Last year, the Radiothon raised $160,236 from calls to the phone bank.
