Registration for Medical Center parking goes online

Effective Dec. 1, parking registration for Vanderbilt Medical Center employees moved online, and payment is now available through payroll deduction.

To register, go to www.mc.vanderbilt.edu/parking and click “Register to park” in the box on the right. You must have your VUNetID and password as well as vehicle information.

Biographical information has been imported, and you are asked to review the information to ensure it is correct. Your permit will be mailed to the address you specify, and a temporary receipt can be printed and used in the interim.

Permits should be placed in the lower driver's side area of the windshield. The decals are repositionable, so they can easily move between cars.

Those with expired permits are asked to register through the online system by Dec. 19 to ensure their permits are current by Jan. 1, 2009.

The system can be accessed from any computer with an internet connection, and there are also kiosks located in the lobby of the parking permit office on the ground level of East Garage. Employees are available at those kiosks to help users through the process.

In addition to permit registration, there are also links for paying citations and accessing the parking wait list. Gary Streaty, director of Medical Center Parking and Transportation Services, said the online system has taken the guesswork out of the wait list because users can easily track their progress.

Streaty said the online system will be more convenient for the more than 15,000 registered parkers at VMC.

“Our main goal is to provide a higher level of service and convenience to staff,” he said.

“The biggest benefit is you don't have to come into the office and wait in line. The permit comes in the mail, you put it in your car, and you're good to go until it expires again.”
