Smith to oversee operations at One Hundred Oaks facility
Janice Smith, R.N. M.Ed., formerly administrative director of the Neurosciences Patient Care Center, has been named chief administrator of Vanderbilt Medical Group One Hundred Oaks, the 440,000-square-foot medical campus extension scheduled to open next fall off Interstate 65 in Nashville.
Smith will oversee daily operations at the facility, working closely with patient care center leaders and ancillary service managers. Reporting to David Posch, CEO of the Vanderbilt Clinic and executive director of VMG, she will be responsible for all aspects of the patient care operation at OHO and for the facility overall.
“Janice has the skills and depth of experience that we sought for this position, and I'm confident she'll continue to distinguish herself in this new role,” Posch said.
Smith arrived at Vanderbilt in 2004 as the neurosciences assistant administrator for outpatient care. She had previously been a vice president with Aveta Health Inc., a Nashville-based physician practice management company.
One Hundred Oaks will include the Breast Center, Center for Surgical Weight Loss, Center for Women's Imaging, Cytogenetics, Dermatology, Interventional Pain Clinic, Medical Infusion, Multiple Sclerosis Clinic, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Pediatric Rehabilitation, University Pediatrics (a three-member general pediatrics group now located in the Medical Arts Building), Hospital Patient Accounting and the Vanderbilt Medical Group Business Office. Additional groups will also establish satellite programs at OHO.
A national search for a neurosciences patient care center administrative director is under way. Devin Carr, R.N., administrative director for Trauma and Surgery, has been named interim administrative director for Neurosciences inpatient care, and Paul Schmitz, associate director of Neurodiagnostics, is coordinating outpatient operations for the patient care center.
