Sobecki to manage VICC’s informatics systems
Scott Sobecki has been named Informatics Manager for Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center.
Sobecki is responsible for the architectural design and implementation of all information technology systems at Vanderbilt-Ingram, as well as information security and management of hardware and software.
Since July 1, he has been supervising programmers, LAN managers and project managers for Vanderbilt-Ingram and the Vanderbilt Mass Spectrometry Research Center.
“The research and clinical enterprises at Vanderbilt-Ingram are expanding and I am excited about the opportunity to help design and manage the information systems used by the faculty and staff,” Sobecki said.
Sobecki joined Vanderbilt in 2005 as manager of Application Development for the Mass Spectrometry Research Center, where he supervised custom software development, redesigned several aspects of proteomics analysis tools and implemented a virtual server environment.
“As we strive to more rapidly integrate research and clinical data to accelerate discovery and improve patient outcome, a nimble informatics team is essential,” said Jennifer Pietenpol, Ph.D., director of Vanderbilt-Ingram.
“Scott has significant expertise in project management and application development and we are delighted to welcome him to this important management post in the Cancer Center.”
Sobecki graduated cum laude from Indiana University with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Information Systems.
