'Tis the season for VCH fundraisers

This weekend's Music City Tennis Invitational tournament leads a pack of upcoming fundraisers for Vanderbilt Children's Hospital.

Tickets for the following events are available at the Friends of Children's Hospital Development Office at 2424 Garland Ave. For more information, call 322-7450.

€ The Music City Tennis Invitational Captain's Cup, a professional tennis exhibition featuring pro players Tom Gullikson, Patrick McEnroe and brothers Luke and Murphy Jensen, will begin at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 26, in the Centennial Sportsplex. Tickets are $15 for adults and $5 for children under 16.

€ The 56th running of the Iroquois Steeplechase at Percy Warner Park will be held Saturday, May 10. The gate opens at 10 a.m. and the first of six races will begin at 1 p.m.

Tickets may be purchased in advance for $8 and are available at Nashville-area NationsBank locations. The day of the race, tickets will be $10 at the gate.

The Peoplechase Party will begin at 7 p.m. Friday, May 9, in the pavilion tent on the Steeplechase grounds. Entertainment will be provided by the Eric Hamilton Band. The ticket price of $20 per person includes beer, wine and barbecue.

€ The Children's Miracle Network Champions, a 21-hour live broadcast on WTVF-TV Channel 5, will be May 31 and June 1. The broadcast culminates a year-long fund-raising effort by a number of groups and sponsors.

The broadcast will feature several live remote shots from Vanderbilt Children's Hospital.
