UNC’s Margolis to speak on AIDS fight at upcoming Koenig Lecture

David Margolis, M.D., a prominent AIDS researcher at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, is this year’s M. Glenn Koenig Visiting Professor in Infectious Diseases.

At 8 a.m., Wednesday, Oct. 19, Margolis will deliver the Infectious Diseases Grand Rounds in room 1220 MRB III. His topic will be “Attacking persistent HIV infection: Towards a cure for AIDS.”

At 8 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 20, he will deliver the Medicine Grand Rounds in 208 Light Hall.

The talk is entitled “The Solutions for the Fourth Decade of the HIV Pandemic: Prevention, Treatment, Cure.”

Margolis is professor of Medicine, Microbiology Immunology, and Epidemiology, and is director of the Program in Translational Clinical Research in the Institute of Global Health and Infectious Diseases at UNC.

The annual Koenig Visiting Professorship, hosted by the Division of Infectious Diseases, is named for the late M. Glenn Koenig, M.D., former division director and professor of Medicine.
