VUMC participated in a citywide disaster drill in which a group of ''airplane accident victims'' were shuttled through a decontamination shower to rinse free of jet fuel, then wrapped in blankets and sorted by triage teams to care units. Vanderbilt employees, as well as students from the Schools of Medicine and Nursing, participated as mock patients, while employees from Environmental Health and Safety, along with Emergency Department faculty and staff, provided decontamination to the patients and followed up with treatment.
