Radiothon results

The 15th annual River of Hope Radiothon event raised $136,552 for Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt.

Children’s book author Gloria Churchwell, center, shared the story of her newest picture book, “Follow Chester!,” during her recent visit to Seacrest Studio at Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt. She was joined by daughter, Alexandria Churchwell, and Byard Huggins, a local composer and producer, during a promotional tour of the book that highlights the story of Dr. Chester Pierce, the first African American to play collegiate football in the South.

The National Football League draft descended on Nashville last week, but before the first selection was made, players and national media personalities came to Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt to visit with patients and family members in Seacrest Studio. In the photo above, ABC’s “Good Morning America” anchor Robin Roberts was all smiles as she interacted with patients and families including Kelli Gooch, seated next to her, and John Majors. In the photo below, Tennessee Titans quarterback Marcus Mariota signaled a touchdown during his visit.
