Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) on Monday held its first Directorship Celebration to honor and support eight of its leaders in clinical care, research, education and administration.

Ian Macara, PhD, Louise B. McGavock Professor and Chair of Cell and Developmental Biology and co-leader of the Signal Transduction and Chemical Biology Research Program at Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center (VICC), has been named one of the Pink Tie Guys for the Susan G. Komen Central Tennessee organization.

Players from the Nashville Predators hockey team recently brought some holiday cheer to patients at Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt. Players stopped by Seacrest Studios to play a game and then visited with patients throughout the hospital and clinics.

An artist with strong ties to Nashville has donated artwork to Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center’s (VICC) Radiation Oncology department for the benefit of patients, both young and old.

To celebrate the release of her first children’s album, “I Believe in You,” legendary country music singer-songwriter Dolly Parton visited Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt on Friday, Oct. 13, and performed songs from the album for patients, their families and hospital staff.
