VUMC part of team developing advanced life-support tech for battlefield injured

Battlefield medics often have limited resources, time and expertise to provide life-sustaining, emergency care for those critically injured.

Vanessa Cameron is a nurse educator who has always been passionate about accommodations to help people learn. But a rock-climbing fall left her paraplegic, and she now says: ‘I thought I understood what ableism was, and I was wrong.’

Cameron, who co-leads the VUMC Disability Employee Resource Group, has led a team to develop algorithmic tools intended for anyone with a goal of supporting all participants at educational events.

Ukrainian team visits VUMC to hone transplant surgery skills

Award program celebrates improvement work across the VUMC enterprise

The overall winner was a project at Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt to prevent peripheral IV infiltrations and extravasations.

Anna Person honored for teaching by Infectious Diseases Society of America

Person, an award citation reads in part, “has been a champion for empathy and equity in caring for patients. … She models for her learners how to compassionately care and advocate for marginalized populations.”
