Multi-institution cancer symposium set for April 2

The Meharry Medical College, Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center, Tennessee State University Cancer Partnership will host the 15th Annual Cancer Retreat, Saturday, April 2, 8:30 a.m. – 3 p.m. The retreat will be held on the Meharry Medical College campus, Harold D. West Basic Sciences Building, Room M001.

The Meharry Medical College, Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center, Tennessee State University Cancer Partnership will host the 15th Annual Cancer Retreat, Saturday, April 2, 8:30 a.m. – 3 p.m. The retreat will be held on the Meharry Medical College campus, Harold D. The purpose of the retreat is to inform scientists, students, physicians, nurses and the general public about the latest in cancer research and the community engagement efforts that encourage practices to minimize cancer disparities among underrepresented minorities.

This year’s Dr. Phil Browning Memorial Lecture will be presented by Ronda Henry-Tillman, M.D., professor of Surgery at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, Little Rock, who will discuss “Reducing cancer disparities through community engagement in policy development.”

A poster session will be held for all cancer-related projects by investigators and students and poster prizes will be awarded. The deadline to submit posters is Friday, March 18.

Admission is free and open to anyone interested in the latest in cancer research.
