Vanderbilt physicians lauded by Best Doctors in America

Oct. 12, 2017, 9:09 AM

Best Doctors in America, a biennial listing of the nation’s physicians who are peer selected for inclusion, is once again acknowledging the expertise of Vanderbilt University Medical Center’s (VUMC) faculty.

Vanderbilt has more than twice as many physicians named to the 2017-2018 Best Doctors in America list than any other health care provider located in Middle Tennessee.

The 2017-2018 list of 437 Nashville-area physicians includes 243 physicians who practice at Vanderbilt University Adult Hospital, The Vanderbilt Clinic, Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt, Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center, Vanderbilt Psychiatric Hospital, Vanderbilt Stallworth Rehabilitation Hospital, Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Vanderbilt Health One Hundred Oaks and numerous other offsite facilities.

The number of Vanderbilt physicians included on this year’s list is acknowledgment of the talent, skill and dedication of the Medical Center’s faculty, said C. Wright Pinson, MBA, M.D., Deputy CEO and Chief Health Systems Officer for VUMC.

“I want to congratulate those acknowledged by Best Doctors in America and each of our other talented physicians for their ongoing contributions to our success. Through their extraordinary skills and compassionate care our patients receive the very best every day,” said C. Wright Pinson, MBA, M.D., Deputy Chief Executive Officer and Chief Health Systems Officer for VUMC.

The Best Doctors in America List, assembled by Best Doctors Inc. and audited and certified by Gallup, results from polling more than 40,000 physicians in the United States. Doctors in more than 40 specialties and 400 subspecialties of medicine appear on this year’s list.

In a confidential review, current physician listees answer the question, “If you or a loved one needed a doctor in your specialty, to whom would you refer?” Best Doctors Inc. evaluates the review results and verifies all additional information to meet detailed inclusion criteria.
