Some of the nation’s leading genitourinary cancer physicians will speak about the latest advances in care at an OncLive State of the Science Summit held in collaboration with Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center.

Eskind exhibit seeking comic strips based on health care experiences

Eskind Family Biomedical Library and Learning Center is sponsoring an exhibit from April 8 to May 8, 2020, titled, “Telling our stories: graphic medicine and the intersection of art and health care.”

Children’s book author Gloria Churchwell, center, shared the story of her newest picture book, “Follow Chester!,” during her recent visit to Seacrest Studio at Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt. She was joined by daughter, Alexandria Churchwell, and Byard Huggins, a local composer and producer, during a promotional tour of the book that highlights the story of Dr. Chester Pierce, the first African American to play collegiate football in the South.

Hidden Figures tribute set for Nov. 4

On Wednesday, Nov. 4, VUMC’s Office for Diversity Affairs will present the third annual “Hidden VUMC Figures” event — a tribute to employees who have made significant long-term contributions to the Medical Center, often behind the scenes.

Breast cancer research pioneer Page remembered

David Page, MD, former professor of Pathology and Preventive Medicine at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine, whose work revolutionized the assessment of breast cancer risk, died in Nashville on Thursday, Oct. 17. He was 78.

Team set to study undiagnosed congenital diarrhea in infants

Researchers at four institutions, including Vanderbilt, have been awarded a five-year, $9.4 million federal grant to tackle undiagnosed congenital diarrheas caused by a single gene mutation.
