VUH lobby closing for renovation beginning Monday, Jan. 17

The Vanderbilt University Hospital (VUH) lobby is undergoing a planned renovation that will affect patients, visitors and employees beginning on Monday, Jan. 17, when the lobby will officially close.

Admitting, surgery check-in and the surgery waiting area will relocate to Light Hall on Saturday, Jan 15. Patient check-in will be routed to Light Hall via the first floor of VUH or the second floor of Medical Center East (MCE). Patients will be directed to cross the Plaza under the tented walkway on the second level or via VUH to Light Hall on level 1 and will take an elevator to the second level in Light Hall.

Signage, Guest Services staff and Volunteer Services will assist with providing directions to patients and families. Patient arrival instructions will be included in My Health at Vanderbilt for scheduled cases/procedures.

As a result of the lobby closure, there will be a change in the location of patient pick-up at discharge. Although the VUH lobby will have an entry /exit walkway, there will no longer be a pick-up waiting area on this level. A new patient pick-up area will be available on the second floor of MCE at the north lobby. Patients may also be discharged from all levels in the MCE garage depending on where the family member’s vehicle is parked.

Please refer to the patient pick-up map below with suggested pick-up locations for patients using ride share, taxi or alternate transportation, and for patients who use valet services or have self-parked their vehicles.
