Nominations open for Geoffrey David Chazen Award for Innovation in Medical Education; deadline is April 15

The Academy for Excellence in Education has announced that nominations are now open for the Geoffrey David Chazen Award for Innovation in Medical Education.

This annual award was established to recognize a faculty member and a student who have made special contributions to the educational programs of the Vanderbilt University School of Medicine through the development and implementation of effective innovation in educational approach. The student recipient is selected through a separate process.

Submission Requirements:

 The Geoffrey David Chazen Award is open to all members of VUSM/VUMC faculty. Worthy candidates should be nominated by their faculty colleagues and will be chosen by the Awards Committee of the Academy. The recipient will receive the Award at the Academy’s Annual Recognition Ceremony. The recipient will also be announced at the Class Day Ceremony that takes place the day prior to graduation.

 Applications should be assembled as a single pdf document and submitted electronically to the Academy via Cynthia Sims (cynthia.y.sims@vumc.org) by Friday, April 15, 2022.

Each submission must include the following:

  • A nominating letter
  • Two additional letters of support
  • A current CV
