One million patients and patient delegates have joined My Health at Vanderbilt, or MHAV. As of June 23, the Vanderbilt University Medical Center patient portal had 1,000,126 registered users.
MHAV was launched in 2004 to support patient engagement with VUMC. It gives patients secure comprehensive access to their VUMC medical record, seamless messaging with their health care team, and other popular features. Patients can use the portal to request clinic appointments, complete clinic intake forms and pay for their care.
“This exciting milestone is an occasion to celebrate the contributions and hard work of many VUMC colleagues who have joined in continuously maintaining and strengthening this vital virtual tie to our community of patients and families,” said the director of MHAV, Trent Rosenbloom, MD, MPH, professor of Biomedical Informatics, Medicine, Pediatrics and Nursing. “The MHAV team has done incredible work keeping it innovative and impactful, and we thank leadership for continuously emphasizing MHAV’s value to our community. As health care evolves, patient engagement and partnering is becoming a central aspect of our system of care. With the help of our many contributors, we’ll ensure that VUMC’s patient portal continues to grow and evolve with the times.”
Rosenbloom said the portal is on track to receive 30 million logins this year from 600,000 unique patients and patient delegates. This year patients will use the portal to send 2.5 million messages to their VUMC health care teams, schedule 450,000 appointments and submit more than 750,000 medication and allergy updates to their VUMC medical record.
