Nominations for the 2024 Vanderbilt Prize in Biomedical Science are now being accepted. The nomination deadline is Feb. 29.

The Vanderbilt Prize in Biomedical Science honors and recognizes a scientist of national reputation who has a stellar record of research accomplishments and is known for mentoring others in science.

Previous recipients include Nobel laureates Elizabeth Blackburn, PhD, and Jennifer Doudna, PhD, National Medal of Science recipient Nancy Andreasen, MD, PhD, and the 2023 winner, Professor Dame Frances Ashcroft of the University of Oxford, who is known internationally for her work on insulin secretion, Type 2 diabetes and neonatal diabetes.

Winners receive an honorarium, deliver a lecture at Vanderbilt, and mentor for a year the Vanderbilt Prize Student Scholar, a promising junior scientist who is pursuing a PhD in the biomedical sciences at Vanderbilt.

Nomination packets must include a nomination form, a letter of nomination from the nominee’s department chair or dean, one letter of recommendation from a distinguished peer in basic or clinical research or clinical practice, and a complete CV.
