This initiative aims to ensure that every student in our community starts the school year with the tools they need to succeed.

Vanderbilt School of Medicine is partnering with Youth Villages to launch al “Backpack Heroes” school supply drive and service-learning project. This initiative aims to ensure that every student in our community starts the school year with the tools they need to succeed.

On July 19, Vanderbilt’s first year medical students will work together with their college mentors to learn about Youth Villages and then fill new backpacks. Youth Villages is hoping to help 1,700 students and VUSM is hoping to help them reach their goal by filling (at least) 112 backpacks.
