It is already time for the first bi-annual release of upgrades designed to increase functionality and enhance the user experience. Workday’s spring release, known as 2025 R1, will come out on March 15. Learn about what changes you can expect when the release of the features arrives.
What to expect:
Twice a year, in March and September, Workday provides an upgrade to the latest available feature releases. The next release, on March 15, has feature enhancements designed to improve the way you work through your day. Most of the enhancements will be ‘behind the scenes’ but will seamlessly improve the user experience.

Here is an anticipated change we expect to happen as part of this release.
Payroll Costing Allocations
- Workday has redesigned the layout of the Assign Costing Allocation task
- Salary Over the Cap defaults can be assigned
Pay and Benefits Hub
- Updated to include access to edit tax elections and payment elections
Non-Catalog Requisitions
- Workday has redesigned the layout for non-catalog requisitions
- Provides “Suggested Items” from the item master based on selections
Workbooks
- Workday has added the feature to save personal filters in Workbooks and allows you to reuse them
- Workday also allows you to share filters with others that have access to the Workbook

Change Network Meetings
To help you prepare for the new and updated Workday features, two change network meetings are scheduled on March 13. The same topics and material will be covered in each meeting. Please make an effort to attend on this day at the time that is most convenient for you.
Morning Change Network Meeting: March 13 from 10-11 a.m. CDT
Afternoon Change Network Meeting: March 13 from 2:30 – 3:30 p.m. CDT
Reminder: Expect Workday to be unavailable during the release update

Workday will be unavailable for a maximum of seven hours during the next Weekly Service Update and Monthly Maintenance on Saturday, March 1, 1-8 a.m. CST.
Workday will also be unavailable for a maximum of three hours during the Weekly Service Update and Feature Release on Saturday, March 15, 4 a.m. CDT.
Please use Workday downtime procedures for business continuity.
