Events at VUMC to observe Memorial Day include:
“A Walk to Remember”
On May 22, “A Walk to Remember” event will be held in honor of Memorial Day. The event has both in-person & virtual options:
In-person: Two walks will be available at the VUMC campus at 7:30 a.m. and noon.
- 7:30 a.m.: Meet in the Medical Center Plaza, outside of Langford Auditorium
- Noon: Meet at Health Plus table at the Vanderbilt Farmers’ Market in the Medical Center Plaza
Virtual: Walk, run or ruck (walk with a rucksack or backpack) any distance anywhere on May 22.
This event is open to all VUMC staff, and participating in the walk should be done on personal time/breaks. The Health Plus Pacers Walking and Running Club also plans to participate.
A VUMC group will be collecting photos to commemorate participation, including who you walk in memory of, as an option for those who wish to submit a picture. Photos may be submitted to veterans@vumc.org and may be included in an online slide show.
The POW/MIA table
The POW/MIA Table: A place setting for one, a table for all, will be held May 22-27
POW/MIA tables are meant to serve as a reflection and reminder of our fallen, missing, or imprisoned soldiers, sailors, airmen, marines, and first responders. POW/MIA tables will be on display at Vanderbilt Health locations to include The Courtyard Cafe, the food court at Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt, Vanderbilt Health One Hundred Oaks, Vanderbilt Tullahoma-Harton Hospital, and Vanderbilt Wilson County Hospital.
