Haley Brady, LPN
Haley Brady, LPN, works in the Medical Telemetry unit at Vanderbilt Tullahoma-Harton Hospital. She is one of the latest Vanderbilt Health DAISY Award winners.
From the nomination
“Haley consistently goes above and beyond in her role as a nurse to advocate for her patients, and her care for one patient in particular recently demonstrated the profound impact of her kindness and thoughtfulness. Haley cared for a mentally challenged patient who had a deep love for Elvis Presley. She left her personal cell phone in his room, playing Elvis. When she realized this wasn’t the most practical solution, Haley reached out to see if there was a better way. We set up an old cell phone connected to a speaker, allowing the patient to enjoy Elvis music throughout his stay.
“She went out of her way to bring in her own personalized life-size Elvis display into his room, completely brightening his day. It was clear how much this thoughtful gesture meant to him and Haley’s ability to make him feel seen and valued was truly remarkable.
“When the patient was no longer assigned to her care, she continued to check on him every day, ensuring he felt cared for and supported. Her compassion and personal connection went far beyond the expectations of her role, leaving a lasting impact on both the patient and those of us fortunate enough to witness her care.
Haley Brady exemplifies the spirit of nursing at its finest. Her actions demonstrate the power of kindness, empathy, and genuine care in transforming a patient’s experience. She is a shining example of what it means to go above and beyond, and she reminds us all of the profound difference exceptional nursing care can make.”
About DAISY Awards
The DAISY Award is a recognition for extraordinary nurses who exemplify compassion toward patients and families.
Vanderbilt Health distributes the award in partnership with The DAISY Foundation, which was formed in 1999 to honor the memory of J. Patrick Barnes, a 33-year-old man who died of complications of the autoimmune disease Idiopathic Thrombocytopenic Purpura (ITP). Barnes’ family was moved by the care they received from his nurses and wanted to recognize them to preserve his memory. DAISY is an acronym for Diseases Attacking the Immune System.
Vanderbilt Health nurse committees determine the individual recipients. Previous recipients of the DAISY Award are here. The award is open to all licensed nurses, and anyone can nominate — including co-workers, patients and their families.
