For 25 years, Nashville-based Tri Star Energy has helped Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt enhance the hospital and clinic experience of patients and families.

Recently, the company reached a remarkable milestone of $5 million in total support for Monroe Carell, reflecting its long-standing commitment to patient- and family-centered care. A significant portion of that impact came through Tri Star Energy’s $2 million pledge to support the hospital’s Patient- and Family-Centered Care Program, which helps create a more supportive and compassionate environment for children and their families.

In recognition of this transformative gift, Monroe Carell has dedicated the Twice Daily Café. Located in the area of the hospital known as Main Street, the café serves as an integral place where families gather.

“For 25 years, Tri Star Energy has raised more than $5 million for Monroe Carell through their spring ‘round up’ campaign and the annual Twice Daily Cup. These generous contributions have ensured we remain a leader in pediatric health care,” said Jamie Phillips, MHA, FACHE, President of Monroe Carell. “Monroe Carell would not be able to meet the growing needs of our community without support from corporate partners like Tri Star. The many contributions of the Tri Star Energy team have helped us grow essential programs that focus on patients and families. We are so very grateful for this partnership and support of Tri Star Energy.”

Tri Star was the first corporate partner to pledge support to the Growing to New Heights Campaign, leading the way for others to join the effort to add four new floors to the hospital. That expansion project was completed in early 2025.

Over the years, Tri Star has supported many areas across the hospital including the pediatric surgical care unit, spiritual care through the Tri Star Energy Chaplain Fund, and the inpatient pediatric rehabilitation unit.

Each year since 2002, Tri Star has hosted the Twice Daily Cup local charity golf tournament, with all proceeds benefiting Monroe Carell. During April and May each year, Tri Star stores fundraise through a point-of-sale campaign where customers have an opportunity to join them in giving back.

“Naming the café after Twice Daily represents more than just philanthropy. It represents a true partnership built on shared values and a commitment to our community’s children,” said Steve Perry, COO of Tri Star Energy and Monroe Carell Advisory Board member. “From our first golf tournament 25 years ago to the recent $2 million commitment, we’ve watched this hospital grow and expand its reach, and we’re proud to have played a role in that journey.”
