U.S. Sen. Marsha Blackburn, along with representatives from the offices of U.S. Sen. Bill Hagerty and U.S. Rep. Matt Van Epps, toured Vanderbilt Health’s new “MICRO” lab suite on Sept. 1. MICRO is a biosafety level 3 (BSL-3) laboratory with state-of-the-art biosafety features made possible in part by an $8 million National Institutes of Health construction grant. The lab will greatly expand Vanderbilt Health’s capacity to test new medical countermeasures and therapies against infectious agents.
