Beginning on Monday, Oct. 19, Vanderbilt University’s ongoing construction projects along Garland Avenue will require additional detours for vehicle and pedestrian traffic.
During this phase of construction, pedestrian traffic will be rerouted away from Garland Avenue to a detour route. The detour route requires pedestrians to walk from the corner of 24th and Garland toward 25th Avenue. There are a series of alternate walking routes that will direct pedestrians back toward the circular drive terminating at Medical Center North and the area behind Eskind Biomedical Library.
The new pedestrian routes are identified by light blue dots on the accompanying map.
Also, beginning Monday. Oct. 19, Garland Avenue will become a one-way, eastbound only, route. A one-way, westbound only, detour route from Stevenson Center Lane to 25th Avenue will also open on October 19.
Traffic control personnel and signs will be in place to assist vehicles and pedestrians. It is anticipated that this traffic pattern will remain in place until the beginning of the new year.
