Moore, MD, MPH (A&S 1994, MD 2000), Director of the Tennessee Immunization Program and Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Health Policy, testified before the U.S. Senate Health Education Labor and Pension (HELP) Committee about the value of vaccines in the wake of the Disneyland measles outbreak in February 2015. In September, she was appointed by the Secretary of Health and Human Services to a 4-year term on the Federal Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP). The ACIP is a group of medical and public health experts that develops recommendations on how to use vaccines to control diseases in the United States. Its recommendations determine which vaccines are included in the Federal Vaccines for Children entitlement program and lead to insurance coverage mandates under the Affordable Care Act. Related
