Patrick Arbogast, Ph.D., a former Vanderbilt faculty member in the Departments of Biostatistics and Preventive Medicine, died in August.
Dr. Arbogast came to Vanderbilt as assistant professor of Preventive Medicine before joining Biostatistics in 2000, when the department was formed.
He worked in pharmacoepidemiology, taught Biostatistics in the Masters of Public Health program and was director of the Biostatistics Core for the Center for Education and Research in Therapeutics program.
“Patrick, having been an excellent teacher, will have a lasting impact because of the many MPH students he instructed and mentored. His VU faculty colleagues will always miss the fun and stimulating discussions they had with Patrick as well as his outstanding contributions to collaborative efforts,” said Frank Harrell, Ph.D., chair of the Department of Biostatistics.
Dr. Arbogast left Vanderbilt in December 2011 to become senior investigator at Kaiser Permanente’s Center for Health Research in Portland, Ore.
