Kayvon Modjarrad, M.D., Ph.D., director of Emerging Infectious Disease Threats at the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research in Silver Spring, Maryland, will be the keynote speaker Sept. 25 at a forum entitled “Global Health at Vanderbilt.”
Modjarrad’s talk is titled “Vaccine development during public health emergencies: How to build a plane while flying it through a storm.” It will begin about 2:30 p.m. in 208 Light Hall during an afternoon symposium on research, education and service.
The forum will conclude at 4 p.m. with a reception in Langford Auditorium honoring Sten Vermund, M.D., Ph.D., founding director of the Vanderbilt Institute for Global Health (VIGH) and since February dean of the Yale School of Public Health.
Modjarrad and Vermund also will give their reflections on career paths in global health at 11 a.m. in the 8th floor conference room, 2525 West End Ave. A lunch with guest speakers will follow at noon.
