Hillsboro Medical Group opens at Village at Vanderbilt

A ribbon-cutting ceremony and open house was held last week for the new Hillsboro Medical Group location at the Village at Vanderbilt.

“It is with pleasure that we dedicate this space as the new home for the Hillsboro Medical Group and their new association with Vanderbilt Geriatrics,” said C. Wright Pinson, MBA, MD, Deputy Chief Executive Officer and Chief Health System Officer for Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

“The nine primary care physicians and three geriatric physicians are the health care home for more than 35,000 patients each year.”

The practice, which is one of the oldest internal medicine groups in Nashville, was formerly on the sixth floor of Medical Center East. Milton Grossman, MD, Larry Grossman, MD, Herman Kaplan, MD, and Paul Barnett, MD, were the group’s original partners, and they began seeing patients at their first location on Hayes Street in the 1950s. When VUMC expanded general internal medicine in 2001, the practice was recruited to join the Medical Center.

“This space is a clear symbol of the growing importance of primary care at Vanderbilt University Medical Center,” said Tom Nantais, executive vice president for Adult Ambulatory Operations in Davidson County. “Four physicians from Vanderbilt Internal Medicine, three of whom specialize in geriatrics, will see patients here, further expanding the clinic’s services. This clinic has clearly been designed to the meet the primary care needs of our community.”

The clinic space includes 24 exam rooms and two treatment rooms. The exam rooms have been designed so that the physician faces the patient during their visit.

The treatment rooms provide a private space for infusions or other treatments that are more complex or require additional time for the patient to receive.

The new location is just down the hall from the new Hillsboro Imaging, Laboratory and Pulmonary Function Testing Lab, allowing patients to easily receive needed diagnostic services.

The clinic is located at Suite 3000 at the Village at Vanderbilt, 1500 21st Ave. South in Nashville.
