One of the most powerful things you can say to a colleague is “thank you.”
That’s exactly what Making Health Care Personal: The Power of Recognition focuses on. This third installment in the Making Health Care Personal initiative spotlights ways we all have here at Vanderbilt Health to show appreciation for our colleagues, including a new online recognition system, Cause for Applause.
“In the feedback from last year’s culture survey, we were asked for more ways to recognize each other across the organization,” said Amy Schoeny, Ph.D., Chief Human Resources Officer, “We heard you, and we acted and are so excited to announce the launch for a new online recognition system, Cause for Applause.
Whether it’s the team you work with daily, or someone you see living the Credo, you can celebrate them on Cause for Applause. Take a few moments to let others know the importance of the work they do. This newest episode, The Power of Recognition, introduces everyone to how to meaningfully recognize each other in many different ways.”
This installment rolled out to leaders on August 23 and to all employees on August 30 with an invitation from C. Wright Pinson, MBA, MD, Deputy Chief Executive Officer and Chief Health System Officer for VUMC, that confirms automatic enrollment.
“Every day, I see all the meaningful ways that our team makes health care personal for our patients and for each other. Our patients routinely express their gratitude for our outstanding care. But gratitude and recognition doesn’t just come from our patients, recognizing one another is a core part of who we are at Vanderbilt Health. Recognizing each other for the contributions you make daily is another way Vanderbilt Health is so special,” said Pinson.
