Stanford’s Eben Rosenthal named to lead VUMC’s Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery

Following a national search, Eben Rosenthal, MD, the John and Ann Doerr Medical Director and Associate Director of Clinical Care with Stanford Cancer Center, will join Vanderbilt University Medical Center Oct. 11 as chair of the Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery (OHNS).

Churchwell to focus on VU diversity roles

André Churchwell, MD, the Levi Watkins Jr. MD Professor, professor of Medicine, Biomedical Engineering and Radiology and Radiologic Sciences, senior associate dean for Diversity Affairs and Vanderbilt University Medical Center’s Chief Diversity Officer, will step down from his administrative roles as Chief Diversity Officer and senior associate dean for Diversity Affairs for Vanderbilt University School of Medicine (VUSM) on June 30.

Vanderbilt Wilson County Hospital President Hinesley departing VUMC to join MUSC

Julian “Jay” Hinesley III, MHA, President of Vanderbilt Wilson County Hospital (VWCH), is leaving his role with Vanderbilt University Medical Center to join the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) as Chief Executive Officer for MUSC Health’s Florence Division in Florence, South Carolina, where he will lead three hospitals located in Florence and adjacent communities. He will depart VWCH and VUMC on April 30.

Adult Hospital and Clinics chief of staff Jagasia to leave VUMC

Shubhada Jagasia, MD, MMHC, professor of Medicine and chief of staff for Vanderbilt University Adult Hospital and Clinics, has accepted a new position as President and Chief Executive Officer for Ascension Saint Thomas Midtown and West Hospitals. She will be leaving Vanderbilt University Medical Center this month.

Vanderbilt’s Clair receives Harvard Medal for “extraordinary service”

Walter Clair, MD, MPH, who earned his bachelor’s degree, medical degree and Master of Public Health from Harvard University, is one three 2021 recipients of Harvard University’s highest honor, the Harvard Medal.

Johnson to step down as DBMI chair

Kevin Johnson, MD, MS, Cornelius Vanderbilt Professor and chair of the Department of Biomedical Informatics (DBMI), professor of Pediatrics and Informatician-in-Chief at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, will depart the organization on Nov. 1, to join the faculty of the University of Pennsylvania and Perelman School of Medicine. He will continue to serve as chair of DBMI as a national search is conducted to identify his successor.
