The Vanderbilt Psychiatric Hospital (VPH) has opened a Psychiatric Assessment Service (PAS), combining two existing services into one secure location — a win for patients being cared for at VPH and their families.

As a result of a scientist wellness survey on “Professionalism and Professional Health and Wellness of the Scientist” conducted earlier this year, Charlene Dewey, M.D., will be offering a yearlong program titled: The Year of the Scientist: Balancing Health & Science.

Frank Harrell Jr., Ph.D., professor of Biostatistics and founding chair of Vanderbilt’s Department of Biostatistics in 2003, will step down as chair after the completion of a national search for his successor.

Robert Macdonald, M.D., Ph.D., Margaret and John Warner Professor of Neurological Education and chair of Neurology since 2001, will be stepping down as chair of the Department of Neurology at Vanderbilt University when his successor is recruited and joins the Vanderbilt faculty.

Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society has named the Vanderbilt Center for Patient and Professional Advocacy (CPPA) as the sole recipient of the 2016 Edward D. Harris Professionalism Award.
