Neal Patel, M.D., MPH, has been named chief medical informatics officer for the Vanderbilt University Health System. Patel, professor of Clinical Pediatrics, Division of Pediatric Critical Care Medicine, has served as the inpatient chief medical information officer since 2006. -

New policies, procedures in place for vendor representatives
Vanderbilt University Medical Center recently partnered with Vendormate Credentialing Services to manage policies and procedures regarding vendor representatives. Among the changes was the implementation of a daily pass system in place of the previous system of annually renewed badges for vendor representatives. -

Ross recalled as champion of Medical Center
Joseph C. Ross, M.D., who from 1982 to 1998 served VUMC as associate vice chancellor for Health Affairs, died Saturday, June 22, after a lengthy illness. He was 86.
