Free screening event for head and neck cancer set for April 17

Of every 100 people in the United States, at least three men or women will be diagnosed with head and neck cancer in their lifetimes. These cancers can occur in the nasal cavity, sinuses, throat, lips, mouth, thyroid, salivary glands or the voice box (larynx).

Vandana Abramson, M.D., assistant professor of Medicine and a breast cancer specialist at Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center, has received the Advanced Clinical Research Award in Breast Cancer from the Conquer Cancer Foundation (CCF).

Free head and neck cancer screening event set for April 25

Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center and the Vanderbilt Department of Otolaryngology will hold the annual head and neck cancer screening event Friday, April 25, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. The screenings are free, open to the public and require no appointment.

Family’s support enhances cancer research training

John F. Brock III, chairman and CEO of Coca-Cola Enterprises, his wife, Mary, and their three children have established an endowment to support an oncology fellowship at Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center. The Brock Family Fellowship will provide financial assistance long into the future for young physicians, postdoctoral students and medical investigators who are furthering their training in cancer research.
