Vanderbilt University School of Nursing student Molly Anne Lalonde will be a contestant on “Jeopardy” starting June 5.

An international research group led by Vanderbilt University scientists has shown for the first time that a lipid, or fat molecule, can regulate “psychostimulant” behaviors by interacting with a brain protein.

Lawrence J. “Larry” Marnett, Ph.D., the Mary Geddes Stahlman Professor of Cancer Research and University Professor of Biochemistry and Chemistry, has been named Vanderbilt University Medical Center’s next associate vice chancellor for Research and senior associate dean for Biomedical Sciences, effective Sept. 1.

For this reason, kidney disease is often referred to as a silent killer.

Henry Paul (Hank) Russell, M.D., assistant professor of Clinical Surgery and a general and thoracic surgeon at Vanderbilt Medical Group in Williamson County since 1986, has been named medical director of Vanderbilt Health – Williamson/Maury. He replaces Pete Powell, M.D., who has held the position since 2004.

Gregory Mencio, M.D., director of Pediatric Orthopaedics at the Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt, has been named president of the Pediatric Orthopaedic Society of North America (POSNA).
