Celebration honors new holders of endowed chairs at Vanderbilt

Ten Vanderbilt University faculty members named to endowed chairs were honored Tuesday during a celebration at the Student Life Center. Their academic achievements range from imaginative scholarship on economics and development to groundbreaking discoveries about the role of DNA in memory formation.

May, Merchant elected to American Surgical Association

Two Vanderbilt University Medical Center surgeons, Addison May, M.D., professor of Surgery and Anesthesiology, and Nipun Merchant, M.D., professor of Surgery and Cancer Biology, were elected members of the American Surgical Association (ASA) at the 133rd annual meeting of the organization and will be officially inducted at the 2014 annual meeting.
