Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt has once again earned the distinction of being named a top pediatric facility in U.S. News & World Report’s annual Best Children’s Hospitals rankings. This marks the 14th year that Children’s Hospital has made the list.

A month before his 49th birthday, Geoffrey Fleming, MD, had a biopsy of his liver to diagnose an unidentified metastatic disease that he already knew was “something bad.”

Pediatricians at Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt are stressing the continued importance of well-child visit for infants, children and adolescents, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Academy for Excellence in Education, established in 2007 to reinvigorate the education enterprise within Vanderbilt University and Vanderbilt University Medical Center, recently honored Geoffrey Fleming, MD, professor of Pediatrics, Critical Care Medicine and Janice Law, MD, assistant professor of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences.

Mary Jo Gilmer, PhD, MBA, professor of Nursing, has been selected for induction into the International Nurse Researcher Hall of Fame by Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing.

During the first few weeks of the statewide stay-at-home order issued by Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee, physicians at Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital saw a higher volume of pediatric traumas, including ATV accidents, dirt bike accidents and pellet gunshot wounds.

Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt has been awarded a grant from longtime philanthropic partner Hyundai Hope On Wheels to support a COVID-19 drive-thru testing site at Nissan Stadium, home of the Tennessee Titans.
