Vanderbilt University Medical Center’s Huntington’s Disease Clinic has been named a 2015 Center of Excellence by the Huntington’s Disease Society of America (HDSA).

Melissa Darnall could easily look around her family reunions and pick out who had Huntington’s disease (HD). The genetic disorder had affected four of her five aunts and uncles and her father, and the balance problems and shakiness typical of HD were readily apparent in those siblings.

A case series by researchers at Vanderbilt University Medical Center examines three patients transferred here with ischemic stroke who later received a diagnosis of fungal meningitis attributed to tainted injections for low back pain, part of a multi-state outbreak.
